This vintage, hand-tooled leather purse / handbag with real leather lacing and brass decorative closure was prison made in the 1950s or early 1960s. 

The purse has a beautiful, classic floral design which looks like poppies and leaves to me.

There are four compartments: one large compartment, two open inside small compartments, and a small zippered compartment. The inside lining is a hammered leather.  

The thin leather strap has also been hand-tooled and is adjustable to use as a shoulder purse or as a carry purse.

The lining has come loose under the flap on the right edge.  The lacing has worn at the bottom right edge corner.

With a good leather cleaner and conditioner, and a little repair, this will make a fabulous vintage purse.
