Wilbur - Tom Clark - Gnome - First Airplane Flight - # 1006 - Created: 1983 - Retired: 1991 - Edition #37

Story: Since Orville Wright was the pilot of the first airplane flight, this fellow has to be Wilbur, the brother who watched the flight. Wilbur the Gnome, is holding his own paper plane while leaning back looking at Orville's plane already in flight. On the base of the statue is a buckeye, the symbol for his home state of Ohio. The beetle is a natural means of flight. The sea shells, in honor of Kitty Hawk, NC, are in the form of a dragonfly. The spiral sea shell copies the design Leonardo da Vinci drew for a flying machine. The lucky Indian Head Penny is dated 1903, the year of the Wright Brothers' great feat.

Comes without COA and Story Tag.  This Gnome Woodspirit is in good, vintage condition. He has lost one of his acorns on the base.

This retired gnome was sculptured by America's premier sculptor Thomas F. Clark, Ph.D, of Cairn Studio, Ltd., Davidson, North Carolina. Dr. Clark is also the lead artist for Cairn Studio and is the most prolific sculptor in the figurine industry today. Each creation is hand-cast in a compounds of resin medium and is individually hand painted, antiqued, and highlighted.
