Digging out from under a Christmastime blizzard in Mitford – where “the snow churns and swirls against the windows” – is no easy task.  In Jan Karon’s best-selling novel, A Light in the Window, this tiny fictional village is blanketed with a snow that children, being children, would likely turn into snowmen.  But maybe, just a maybe, this snowman was the work of a grown-up who decided to give up shoveling and give in to a childlike urge, turning a difficult task into a work of art.
