"I learned to drive by driving," says Richard Petty, the king of stock car racing. From Rookie of the Year (1959) through his Farewell Tour (1992), Petty drove his Number "43" sky-blue cars straight into the record books. The winningness driver in NASCAR history, he is appreciated as someone who always has time for race fans. Petty has also received the Presidential medal of Freedom, the highest U.S. civilian award.
