This vintage wall pocket / planter features two Parrots sitting on a grapevine nest with a large grape leaf design on front of the nest planter. There is a hole in the planter's flat back for hanging, or this planter may be sit on a table to hold plants, pencils, pins, paint brushes, etc.
Maker / Marks:
Unmarked, but known to be made by Morton Pottery Company in Morton, Illinois, between the beginning of their making novelty items in the 1930s until they closed in 1971, probably much closer to 1940s and 1950s time-frame.
6 3/4" tall by 4 1/4" wide by 3 1/4" deep
Excellent vintage condition with crazing.
Others have called the birds love birds, but on page 509 of Official Price Guide to Pottery and Porcelain, 8th Edition, 1995, by Harvey Duke, the author, calls them parrots.
