Offered is a beautiful pair of pierced earrings made by Krementz. These earrings feature Cubic Zirconium gemstones; one large faceted pear shaped and three small faceted rounds, set in a gold-plated art deco design.
Marked Krementz in block letters. Krementz and Company was founded in 1866 by the Krementz and the Lester families (both owning 50%) in Newark, New Jersey, and manufactured men's jewelry. The company became known for its gold overlay process which no other company was able to master as they did. In 1936 the company split into Lester & Co. and Krementz & Co. As the demand for men's collar buttons declined in the 1930s, the company expanded into the making of women's jewelry which by 1950 nearly half of their revenue was from selling women's jewelry. Their workmanship, design, and detailing are excellent as they are known for making very realistic copies of fine jewelry. Krementz Jewelry is normally marked "Krementz" in block letters. After the company was sold in the 1970s and 1980s (selling in parts), Krementz jewelry became marked with Krementz in script.
